Solidification transformations in liquid phase separated metastable monotectic Cu-50 at. % Co alloy

چکیده
Metastable monotectic Cu-50 at. % Co alloy produced by arc melting has been processed under micro gravity condition using a drop tube and subjected to differential thermal analysis (DTA). Microstructural evidence from the as solidified sample revealed that rapid cooling of melt process was enough incite liquid phase separation in alloy. In samples, temperature ?-phase (Cu-rich) determined be 1294.8 K, whereas ?-phase (Co-rich) found vary with cobalt content.

Microstructures and thermal stability of metastable - phase precipitates formed in an Al – Cu alloy at 463
The precipitation behavior in an Al– Cu alloy isothermally annealed at 463 K was studied using Vickers microhardness tests, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). An additional endothermic peak found in the DSC measurements may be attributed to the h00-phase, independent of the dissolution of the G. P. (II) and the h00-phase at the aging temperatures...
متن کاملSolidification in syntectic and monotectic systems.
We present theoretical studies of syntectic and monotectic solidification scenarios. Steady-state solidification along the liquid-liquid interface in a syntectic system is considered by means of a boundary-integral technique developed previously. We study the case of small asymmetry of the pattern and extract from the results the scaling relations in terms of the undercooling and the asymmetry ...
متن کاملHOT CRACK FORMATION IN PURE CU AND CU-30%ZN ALLOY DURING IN SITU SOLIDIFICATION
The hot cracking susceptibility can be determined by establishing the transition temperature between brittle and ductile fracture at high temperature tensile testing of in situ solidified samples. High temperature tensile properties were determined for commercial cathodic pure Cu and Cu- 30%Zn alloy. The transition temperatures for pure Cu and Cu-30%Zn were evaluated from ultimate tensile stres...
متن کامل' * , sy Solidification Behavior and Structure of AI - Cu Alloy Welds
The microsegregation behavior of electron beam (EB, and gas tungsten arc (GTA) welds of Al-Cu alloys covering a range from 0.19 to 7.74 wt% Cu were characterized for dendrite core concentrations and fraction eutectic solidification. Although a single weld speed of 12.7 mm/sec was used, some differences were observed in the segregation behavior of the two weld types. The microsegregation behavio...
